Using four lights thus far, and my Samy's rental for grip gear/softboxes was only $75 – the CHEAPEST I've ever dropped at Samy's (thanks to some very kind friends who lent me lights) – whoo hooo! I'm shooting tomorrow....a hint regarding the concept: "Ecce Homo" is Latin for "Behold the Man," which is what Pontius Pilot said to the crowd before crucifying Christ. Lighthearted stuff from me as always! ;-)

Latest Shoot in the Works!
In the middle of my latest shoot, "Ecce Homo," doing lighting tests. Of course, I don't have scars all over me, I'm not African American, and I'm not a male model, but it's coming along....

From Photographer to Film Maker!
So thanks to my Arclight exhibit, I was introduced to an amazing opportunity. I'm currently in the running to create/shoot a music video for indie singer, Haley Pharo -- super exciting! I just wrapped up writing the script, which includes furniture bolted to walls, chicks trapped in plexiglass boxes, people being devoured by fabric that's come to life -- just your average, everyday scenarios! ;) Will find out if I get the gig by the month's end -- my fingers are crossed a million times over!!!

View My Hollywood Arclight Exhibit Until 11/20!
THANK YOU to everyone who came to my opening night photography reception on October 4th, at Hollywood's Arclight Theater – I truly appreciated all of your support!
For those who have yet to see the exhibit, it's gotten rave reviews (my friends are quite kind)! ; ) It will be up until November 20th, so check it out when you can (make sure you view both the top AND bottom floors – I wanted to infiltrate the theater with my work)!
Below's a sample of what you'll be seeing.... Kind of hard to tell, but the print job was AMAZING (God bless you, Castelli's!!!) – it was done with archival inks infused onto aluminum sheets with a high gloss to top it off. The printing is so amazing, you should check out the show for that alone!
Oh, and sorry to those who missed out on the complimentary beer and wine during the reception. Don't feel too bad though – I was so busy working the crowd, I didn't get any beer or wine either! ; )

My Biggest Photography Exhibit to Date! October 4, 2012 -- A Definite Don't Miss!
Dear Friends:
It's been awhile since I've posted. And much has happened since then. Such as....?
Arclight Theater / 6360 W. Sunset Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90028 / Thursday, October 4th, 2012 from 8pm-10pm. What's the deal?
My biggest photography exhibit to date -- Arclight Theater will be featuring over 20 pieces of my work. And two brand new images (one of which a highly respected Creative Director called "bad ass"), will debut at the event. Trés exciting!
I've poured blood, sweat, and tears to make this show happen for over two years. It'd be a true tragedy if you didn't make it!!!
Need more incentive to attend? The first 50 people at the opening reception will receive free wine/beer. My work will be exhibited in a cutting-edge way that you've probably never seen before. And you can do a movie marathon at the theater after checking out my show!
Remotely interested in photography that doesn't consist of vapid models against boring white backgrounds? Well that's my work. Love or hate it -- either way, you'll definitely have an opinion on it!
So let me know by Monday, September 24th if you plan on attending (that date is a formality for the reception).
And please feel free to forward this invitation onto friends, family, co-workers, significant others, husbands, wives....I draw the line at inanimate objects though, so please leave your teddy bears, pet rocks, and security blankets at home…. ; )
Looking forward to seeing you and all your awesomeness at my exhibit!
Cheers,
Marisa Howenstine
